Who we are
We are a team of whiskey enthusiasts who appreciated the depth smoke infusion adds to spirits but grew tired of inconsistent flames, butane aftertastes, and messy traditional methods. We founded SmokeMyWhiskey to innovate the at-home smoking ritual, creating a safer, cleaner, and more sophisticated way to elevate your favorite drinks. That frustration is where the company started. Between us we had tried nearly every method on the market — cloches fed by butane torches, handheld guns with plastic hoses, cedar planks scorched over a stovetop — and each one traded away something we cared about. The torch methods were quick but left a chemical edge on the first sip. The gun kept the flavour clean but needed constant refilling and a spare hand.
Smoking a drink should feel like part of the evening, not a small engineering project carried out at the counter, so we set out to build one device that handled the fuel, the heat and the timing on its own. The Electric Whiskey Smoker Kit is the result of meticulous development. We engineer each component for performance and safety. We exclusively use food-grade stainless steel for the smoker's core to prevent metallic contamination. Our wood chips are sourced from sustainable orchards, kiln-dried, and free from artificial additives. By utilizing electric heating elements, we eliminate open flames and butane risks. Every material, from the durable casing to the low-power LED lighting and internal wiring, undergoes stringent quality checks to ensure flavor integrity and safety. Sourcing decisions are made one component at a time, and we will hold a launch to get one of them right. The stainless steel core is the clearest example: an anodised aluminium version costs noticeably less and looks nearly identical in a photograph, but it picks up scent from previous sessions and carries it into the next pour. Stainless can be wiped down between drinks and starts neutral every time.
The wood is treated the same way. Kiln-drying matters more than the species does — chips with residual moisture smoulder unevenly and throw a bitter, ashy note that no whiskey recovers from, which is why we specify how dry the chips must be rather than simply buying by flavour name. Fasteners, gaskets and the lid seal are all specified to survive repeated heat cycles, because the part that fails first is rarely the part anyone thinks about.
How we test our products
Each kit undergoes a multi-stage testing process by our in-house engineers and connoisseurs. We conduct cycle testing on the rechargeable USB battery to ensure it delivers over 150 sessions per charge. Heating elements are calibrated to an optimal range for wood chip combustion, preventing charring and producing clean smoke. We perform sensory tests across various whiskeys to confirm a pure, nuanced infusion free from off-notes. Finally, every unit passes an electrical safety inspection to exceed industry standards, ensuring a reliable experience every time. We also test the parts of the experience that are easy to overlook on a spec sheet. One is cleanup: a unit that performs beautifully and then needs ten minutes of scrubbing will simply stop being used, so we time the reset between drinks and treat anything awkward as a design fault rather than a user problem.
Another is repeatability in an ordinary kitchen. We run sessions with the extractor fan on, with a window open, and in a still room, because airflow changes how the smoke settles on the surface of the drink and we would rather know that before you do. Finally, we hand pre-production units to people who have never used a smoker of any kind and watch where they hesitate. Those pauses tell us more about the instructions and the layout of the controls than any internal checklist ever has.
